Justicia adhatoda-Adulsa



Adulsa is a very popular medicinal plant that grows in low water conditions. Leaves are dark green in colour,10 to 15 CM long & 5 CM wide. They become greenish- brown when dried & have a bitter taste. The wood of the stem is soft and flowers are white,clustered at the end of  branches. This plant are found in sub temperate regions of Himalayas and lower ranges of Eastern and Western Ghats. It is also found all over Goa.

Uses:

  • Decoction of leaves is used in gonorrhea,promotes menstrual flow,cures cough and rheumatism.
  • Leaf juice is used  for diarrhoea,dysentery and expelling worms from the body.
  • Decoction of roots is used for treating bronchitis, asthma, vomiting, sore eyes,fever and gonorrhea.
  • It is also control both internal & external bleeding such as peptic ulcer, hemorrhoids and bleeding gums.
  • Decoction of flowers purifies blood and checks painful and difficult urination and jaundice. Fresh flowers are used for opthalmia.
  • Dried leaves are used in the form of cigarette to cure asthma.
  • Leaves,roots and flowers are anti-spasmodic.
